Law students see more options for summer training programs More law firms are offering law students expanded training opportunities, which include programs on artificial intelligence and courtroom skills. Last week, Winston Taylor hosted its inaugural Practice-Ready Program, which focused on the human skills that technology can’t replicate, according to a story from Law.com. Incoming 1L students from six law schools met at the firm’s Chicago office for workshops, team challenges and exercises, and leadership training sessions. As part of its focus on law students, MoloLamken chose 12 scholars to attend its Advocacy Academy, a merit-based program in New York City that provides courtroom skills training to 3Ls, Law.com reports. The scholars, who participated in the program earlier this month, received a $4,500 cash award. Cozen O’Connor also has partnered with the Temple University Beasley School of Law to support law students through its First Generation Legal Career Academy, Law.com reports. This week, first-generation law students in the program are learning more about legal career paths; receiving assistance with resumés and cover letters; and connecting with faculty, career advisers and practicing attorneys. “We hope that this program can help those that do not have family or professional connections in the legal industry navigate their first semester of law school, as well as the early recruiting timeline,” Mindy Herczfeld, the chief legal talent officer at Cozen O’Connor, told Law.com. Herczfeld said 55 students registered for the program, which is the first of its kind for the school and the firm, Law.com reports.
