One Rail Australia renews long-term locomotive maintenance agreement AUSTRALIA: Freight operator One Rail Australia has renewed UGL Transport’s long-term contract to provide maintenance and overhaul services for the majority of its fleet of 51 locomotives in New South Wales and Queensland. The contract runs for a further five years, with options to extend. UGL Transport said the agreement would support specialised maintenance and manufacturing jobs at its Hunter Valley Maintenance Centre and Broadmeadow workshops in Newcastle. ‘Our relationship began more than 15 years ago when UGL Transport delivered Australian-made locomotives built at our Broadmeadow workshops in Newcastle’, said UGL Transport CEO Ian Quarrie on August 19. ‘Today, we continue to maintain and overhaul those assets, demonstrating the enduring value of our engineering and manufacturing capability.’ One Rail Australia CEO Andrew Betts said ‘we value the knowledge, capability and commitment UGL Transport brings to our business and look forward to continuing to work together over the next five years’.
