Four detained over alleged assault of RTC student and security guard

The South Thimphu Police Station arrested four individuals on 15th September 2026 in connection with an alleged assault on a Royal Thimphu College (RTC) student and a security guard at the college. Those arrested include a rapper ‘triple OG,’ an RTC student, and two others who are though to be all friends. The incident occurred outside the college campus on 14th September 2026. Following the arrests, videos of a rap diss have been circulating on TikTok and Reddit, with social media users linking the two groups of rappers seen in the videos to the victim and one of the suspects in the case. The detained alleged attackers are rapper ‘triple OG’ along with three of his friends. Police said the case remains under investigation and the full circumstances leading to the altercation have yet to be established. Sources, however, said the incident followed a rap diss. The four individuals allegedly confronted and assaulted the RTC student during a break, outside the college campus. During the confrontation, one or more members of the group reportedly carried a concealed weapon. When the college security guard intervened to stop the altercation, he allegedly sustained cuts to his hand from the weapon. The main victim also sustained minor injuries to his forearm and fingers. Police said the four suspects are aged 26, 21, 21, and 31, with one of the 21-year-olds being an RTC student. All four underwent drug testing following their arrest, with results coming back negative. Police said the suspects remain in detention as the investigation continues. They also noted a growing number of individuals on TikTok promoting obscene content, including so-called rap disses and TikTok game challenges, which they say needs to be strictly monitored and restricted.
