Free cultural programming brings together more than eight artists at the 18th Amapá Jazz festival

Music, culture, and the creative economy will be highlighted at the 18th edition of the Amapá Jazz Festival, which starts this Thursday (22) and runs until Saturday (24), in front of the Casa do Artesão, in the center of Macapá. With free admission, the event brings together local, national, and international artists and reinforces the valuation of instrumental music and Amazonian cultural expressions. Among the attractions of this edition are the musicians Jimmy Feiches, Deize Pinheiro, and Filó Machado, in addition to other guest artists who make up the festival's program (see the full program below). In addition to the shows, the public will be able to participate in debates, workshops, and conversations that promote the exchange of knowledge among artists, producers, and technicians. The activities address themes related to marabaixo, batuque, handicrafts, music, and other traditional manifestations of Amapá culture. The event also opens space for entrepreneurs in the creative economy, strengthening local cultural production and encouraging the circulation of products and services related to art and Amazonian identity. READ MORE: Jazz on the Sidewalk One of the highlights of the program is Jazz on the Sidewalk, a project created by musician and cultural producer Finéias Nelluty to bring the public closer to instrumental music through free performances in open spaces. The project emerged as a way to democratize access to jazz and stimulate the formation of new audiences. Over the years, the initiative gained an itinerant character and began to circulate through different neighborhoods and municipalities of Amapá, broadening the reach of instrumental music and promoting the meeting between artists and communities. "It is a great festival, one of the largest Jazz festivals in the Amazon. This is the oldest music festival in Amapá and the audience who will attend will find artists with new works, as well as talents," highlighted Finéias about the 18th edition. In this edition, the Amapá Jazz Festival is structured in two fronts: the main festival, with three nights of musical performances, and the Jazz on the Sidewalk project, which maintains its community-based proposal for audience formation and the valuation of Amazonian cultural production. 16th edition of the Jazz Amapá Festival — Photo: Max Renê/Gea Check out the program: Thursday (22) - 7pm - Amazon Mudic - 8pm - Jazz Na Calçada - 9pm - Luiz Otávio - 10pm - Jimmy Feiches Friday (23) - 7pm - Amajazzon - 8pm - Edmarcio Paixão - 9pm - Marrecos Land - 10pm - Chris Combette Saturday (24) - 7pm - Rogério Alsan - 8pm - Deize Pinheiro - 9pm - Filó Machado The event will be in front of the Casa do Artesão in Macapá — Photo: GEA/Promotion
