For the ninth consecutive year, Orange is the fastest network in Romania
Orange is once again the fastest mobile and fiber network in Romania, according to the latest ANCOM report. Following Netograf measurements, the operator has once again obtained the highest average speeds for both mobile data (97 Mbps for download and 28 Mbps for upload) and fixed internet services (593 Mbps for download and 554 Mbps for upload), for the ninth consecutive year.
For residential customers, Orange offers fixed internet with speeds of up to 2.1 Gbps, and for the business environment, speeds reach up to 10 Gbps. In the case of mobile services, Orange offers the capabilities of 5G/5G+, with speeds of up to 1.5 Gbps. 5G/5G+ coverage is currently available in 138 cities and their surroundings.
The leadership of Orange Romania is also confirmed by other independent certifications and tests: at the end of 2025, the independent external auditor LCC International renewed the certification for the best mobile network, and the latest SpeedGeo results show that the operator remains the fastest in terms of speeds for fiber optic internet. Furthermore, other independent tests confirm the quality and leading position in the 5G and fixed networks.
The network's performance was tested this summer in some of the largest events in Romania. Orange Romania ensured connectivity for events such as Beach, Please!, Summer Well, Untold, the large concerts from Arena Națională, as well as for the Nibiru resort or the BIAS air show.
For each of these events, Orange built an infrastructure adapted to a medium-sized city, with kilometers of fiber optic, dozens of mobile antennas, hundreds of Wi-Fi access points, and other equipment. At the most crowded event where Orange was a partner, the network simultaneously supported over 146,000 connected users.
„The fact that we offer the highest speeds for both mobile and fixed internet is both a reason for pride and the result of our commitment to constantly support the technological future of Romania. The ANCOM study is the golden standard for measurements, and we are proud of this achievement, for the ninth consecutive year. These results also confirm that we are not just looking at the figures resulting from a speed test, but at how connectivity can improve the lives of everyone. Orange has transformed the summer festivals into «digital cities», and this has demonstrated that innovation is not just about technology, but about always being where customers need us”, stated Julien Ducarroz, CEO of Orange Romania.
5G Standalone, Tested for the First Time at Large Events
Orange's network performance was supported this summer by the first test of 5G Standalone technology in Romania. The company successfully tested the technology for the first time in Romania at the large concerts held in Bucharest, followed by the most popular summer festivals: Beach, Please!, Untold, and Summer Well. Through 5G Standalone solutions, Orange ensured stable and uninterrupted operational connectivity for authorities, organizers, and their partners.
Through Network Slicing technology, essential services such as payment systems, video transmissions, monitoring, operational coordination, video communications, or other critical services have benefited from a dedicated network, independent of the traffic generated by the rest of the users.
Furthermore, Orange also conducted the first test of 5G Standalone technology for residential customers.
Speeds of up to 1,500 Mbps through 5G+
Orange is the only network in Romania that uses the real capabilities of 5G/5G+ technology, with the new Fast Track 5G+ subscription series. These offer a premium internet browsing experience, with a speed of up to 1,500 Mbps, wherever 5G+ coverage exists, for customers with intensive usage needs, whether it is streaming, gaming, or large downloads.
For Romanians who have not yet experienced Orange mobile internet, the company offers the opportunity to test the service for 100 GB, for 15 days, free of charge, by accessing this link.
