Israel Claims Iran Hatched Fresh Plot to Kill Trump. Is this Believable?
Are you a believer, disbeliever, or neither?
Fresh Plot to Kill Trump
The Wall Street Journal reports Iran Hatched Fresh Plot to Kill Trump, Israel Told U.S.
Israel shared new intelligence with the U.S. that it said indicated a fresh Iranian plan to kill President Trump, people familiar with the matter said, a finding that would mark an escalation in the war between Washington and Iran.
Iran for years has vowed openly to retaliate against Trump for the assassination of Qassem Soleimani, who was a top general in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, in the president’s first term.
The Israeli Embassy in Washington declined to comment. Iran’s Mission to the United Nations didn’t respond to a request for comment. The White House referred The Wall Street Journal to comments the president made on Wednesday.
Trump on Wednesday alluded to threats to his life when speaking to reporters in Ankara, Turkey.
“They want to take out the U.S. leader—me,” he said. “I’m on every list. I saw this morning, I’m on every single one of their lists. And so far, I guess I’ve been a little bit lucky, but that maybe doesn’t last very long.”
Relations between Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have splintered in recent weeks as their interests diverged over continuing the Iran war.
Netanyahu has advocated for keeping up attacks on Iran and accomplishing more war aims. Trump has sought a way out of the conflict, citing concerns it could tank the global economy. The U.S. struck a fragile ceasefire with Iran last month.
Iranian mourners at the funeral for slain Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei chanted for Trump’s death, with mourners unveiling a banner that read “We Will Kill Trump.”
Reasons to Be Sceptical
- Banners and slogan “Death to America” are not credible threats.
- Trump is a liar
- Netanyahu is a liar.
- Netanyahu will do anything to keep the prospects of war alive.
- Where’s the evidence?
It’s easy to believe Iranian leadership wants Trump dead. But does that mean they are launching a credible threat other than agreeing they want Trump dead?
Whatever evidence there is, fabricated or not, Trump and Netanyahu are certainly likely to overstate that evidence albeit for different reasons.
Trump wants to portray himself as a martyr and Netanyahu wants to goad Trump down the path of war.
I’m Not a Believer
None of this is particularly believable, but that does not mean it’s false.
Just color me seriously skeptical of the threat and the seriousness of that threat, even if true.
What about you?

True or not, it seems perfectly calculated to get ADHD Trump riled up and even more rash. This could result in a big enough strike to change the whole complexion of this conflict (not that the complexion is very clear anyway). The more childish heads of state seem susceptible to this (such as George W. Bush, in 2002, on Saddam Hussein: “After all, this is the guy who tried to kill my dad ….”). I think Trump is a guy who can be played, in certain directions, like a cheap violin.
The Trumprael ecosystem reeks of constant projecting so if there is indeed a threat to Trump it’s not probably coming from Iran but a nearby neighbor with the intelligence resources, sympathetic installed informants, zealots, agents, and a history of nefarious plots for one sole purpose. I’ll leave it to the readers to figure out who that might be.
Do worry, Trump, Walrus and the GOP will find a way to make things even worse.™
Iran is a peaceful nation that just wants peace.
Maybe I need to get out more but…
Is there a chance that Israel will pull a false flag assassination of Trump to incite the Americans to get boots on the ground? It’s essentially the same story as Pearl Harbor, the USS Maine, etc. I’m not a big fan of these conspiracy theories but these are psychotic times.
Meanwhile, I think Iran and many other countries have an interest in Trump’s extermination. This isn’t new. It could be Trump making shit up for martyrdom sake.
Whatever the case, it’s nothing new and most likely a move to garner support for extermination Iran much like Palestine in the name of Israel.
Given that we’ve demonstrated a “Kill ’em all” foreign policy here, it’s only logical to assume a “Kill us BACK” is in play. However, do I believe it is a credible threat to the President? Uhhhhh, very “convenient” intelligence agency reporting from a country with numerous dogs in the fight wanting MORE fighting. .
There’s a lot of countries who have wanted this guy dead for a decade. I think the credible threat was already there.
But the switching planes would support that this is a new credible threat. Anybody who’s got one functioning brain cell knows that a dark blue plane is not well camouflaged and makes a nice target. It only requires a single brain cell…
It is curious to me that if Iran is so dangerous why they haven’t loaded an 18-wheeler full of explosive drones or two or three and set them loose on US nuclear plants, oil infrastructure (Texas/Louisiana), and utility plants. This would be far easier than a 9/11 hijack and cause 10x more damage to US economy and fuel disruption.
Just a few refineries produce a ton of fuel in the US, if those go out of commission the US economy is crippled. The same for electric power plants. Heck just blowing up transmission lines would do the job.
The blueprint is already there from what Zelensky did in Russia. Strange that something like that hasn’t happened yet.
