1960 Mercedes

1960 Mercedes-Benz 220SE Cabriolet This 1960 Mercedes-Benz 220SE is one of 1,112 cabriolets produced with Bosch mechanical fuel injection between 1958 and 1960. The car is powered by a 2.2-liter M127 inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission and is finished in Gray Beige/Graubeige over brown leather. Equipment includes a brown soft top, fog lights, 13″ steel wheels with full covers, a wood veneer dashboard, a JVC CD stereo, and Pioneer speakers. The seller purchased the car in 2022, and the fuel injection system was subsequently refreshed. This Ponton is now offered at no reserve with service records, copies of the factory data cards, a car cover, and a California title in the seller’s name. The 220SE model was introduced in late 1958 as the final evolution of the Ponton platform’s six-cylinder variants. This final-year example came finished from the factory in Gray Beige/Graubeige (716), which is accented by a brown convertible top, bright trim, and polished bumpers with overriders. It also features a hood star and “220 SE” trunk badging as well as fog lights, fender-mounted turn signals, a driver-side mirror, flared quarter panels, and a key-locked fuel filler door. The exterior condition may be viewed up-close in the gallery below. Steel 13″ wheels feature slotted chrome covers with body-color centers and are mounted with Coker Classic wide-whitewall tires measuring 195/75. The car was factory equipped with a double-wishbone front and single-joint rear axle suspension with coil springs, and stopping power is provided by vacuum-boosted hydraulic drums at all four corners. Replacement rear shocks were installed in 2026. The cabin houses front bucket seats and an optional fixed rear bench upholstered in brown leather along with a color-coordinated dashboard, door panels, and carpets. Wood trim adorns the span of the dashboard and upper door panels, and interior appointments further include a JVC CD stereo with Bluetooth, Pioneer speakers, front vent windows, door map pockets, an electric clock, and a heater. The factory data card copy lists the car’s original upholstery and and top as green; the current tan leather interior and brown top indicate that the car was retrimmed at some point under prior ownership. The two-spoke steering wheel features a chrome horn ring and frames VDO instrumentation consisting of a horizontal-sweep 110-mph speedometer, a trip odometer, and gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows just under 30k miles, approximately 1,500 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown. The 2.2-liter M127 inline-six was factory equipped with Bosch mechanical fuel injection and was rated at 115 horsepower and 137 lb-ft of torque. The fuel injection system was repaired between 2022 and 2023, and an oil change was performed in 2025. Power is routed to the rear wheels through a column-shifted four-speed manual transmission. Photos of identification plates on the car are shown above and in the gallery below, along with supporting documentation. A copy of the factory data card is viewable above. The California title is noted as a duplicate.
