Video shows flames and smoke outside New York immigration court after explosion

Dramatic video has captured flames and a plume of smoke outside a New York City building housing an immigration court after an explosion on Monday morning. Footage and photos from the scene showed a fire burning on the footpath outside 26 Federal Plaza in lower Manhattan. Separate video showed a person being restrained and taken away by officers. According to the Associated Press, FBI New York official James Barnacle identified the person in custody as 43-year-old former US Army soldier Andrew Arrabaca, who had worked as a mechanic on Patriot missile systems. Barnacle alleged Arrabaca “came armed with bad intentions” and was carrying weapons including knives, a hammer, machete and pellet gun. He allegedly fired between five and seven pellets from an airsoft rifle towards the building. “He is an anti-American, anti-government extremist,” Barnacle said, according to AP.
