Italy wants to introduce a limit on foreigners in classes and to ban burek in schools

The Prime Minister of Italy Giorgia Meloni, in a speech at the Sunday meeting of the youth wing of her party, Brothers of Italy, stated: - A draft law introducing a maximum limit on the number of foreign students in one class will soon be brought to the Council of Ministers. - It will also impose an obligation on the parents of foreign students who have serious problems with integration in school to learn the Italian language. (...) The draft also introduces a ban on wearing burqas and niqabs [Muslim women's coverings - ed.] in school - the Prime Minister informed. She then stated: - One must go to school with an uncovered face, and in Italy, no one, in the name of true or alleged tradition, can decide that a young woman should cover herself. Meloni: there is no doubt. Giorgia Meloni also noted: - If there is only one child in the class who does not understand Italian, they will probably be able to learn the language and quickly integrate with the help of classmates and teachers. But when the number of children who do not understand the language is large or even constitute the majority, there is no more integration, it is neglect. - It is excluded that Italian children in an Italian class feel as if they are in a corner because they have become a minority. There is no room for discussion on this - the Prime Minister stated. According to official statistical data, the immigrant origin accounts for almost 12 percent of students in Italian schools. The media reported in mid-September about the protest of parents in a school in Mestre in Northern Italy, where there are many students from immigrant families, mainly from Bangladesh. A banner appeared in front of the school with the slogan: "Your integration is our marginalization".
