Prysmian inks 10
Optical cable manufacturer Prysmian signed a 10-year deal to supply data center fiber to components vendor Molex. The deal includes a €550 million upfront payment and could be worth €5.5 billion over the term of the agreement.
This agreement will extend production of optical cables and fiber in plants across the U.S., including the glass preform stage, doubling Prysmian's domestic fiber capacity.
Prysmian said it will spend €1.25 billion through 2031 for this capacity increase, and claimed its capacity expansion will result in the creation of 1,000 jobs worldwide, 600 of which will be in the U.S.
"For Molex, this represents a strategic expansion in the U.S., bringing increased capacity to support the growing demand for data center solutions with the quality and reliability our customers expect," said Joe Nelligan, CEO of Molex.
By pairing Molex's data center connectivity expertise with Prysmian's manufacturing scale and technology leadership, both organizations are uniquely positioned to help customers reduce risk, improve lead-time reliability and support long-term planning for critical deployments.
