CDT Joins Disability Rights and Justice Allies in Requesting Funding for the United States Access Board

CDT Joins Disability Rights and Justice Allies in Requesting Funding for the United States Access Board The Center for Democracy & Technology (CDT), a member of the Consortium for Constituents with Disabilities, joined over 25 disability rights and justice organizations in signing two letters, one to the United States House and one to the United States Senate, respectfully requesting support to fund the United States Access Board. The U.S. Access Board, established under Section 502 of the Rehabilitation Act, is the only federal agency dedicated exclusively to advancing accessibility for people with disabilities. Among other things, the Access Board provides technical assistance and training on accessibility guidelines and enforces the Architectural Barriers Act. CDT has previously partnered with the U.S. Access Board to help advance the interests of disabled people in the design and governance of artificial intelligence (AI). Fully funding the U.S. Access Board is vital to ensure that the agency is able to fulfill its statutory duties on behalf of people with disabilities.
