Lufthansa Cargo teams up with tech firms on ONE Record implementation
Lufthansa Cargo has teamed up with WiseTech Global and IBS Software to implement data sharing through IATA’s ONE Record standard.
The first use cases demonstrated by the three companies involve processing data from Master Air Waybills using ONE Record to allow data for air cargo shipments to be shared and processed between freight forwarders and the airline.
The shipment records were executed by a freight forwarder in WiseTech’s CargoWise platform at Master Air Waybill level and successfully received and processed in Lufthansa Cargo’s system via the IBS ONE Record server.
“This is an important step towards faster, more transparent and more resilient cargo transport across the supply chain,” Lufthansa Cargo said in a press release.
WiseTech is a system provider used by many freight forwarders, while IBS Software is Lufthansa Cargo’s system provider.
Lufthansa Cargo head of information management & chief data officer Jasmin Kaiser said: “Lufthansa Cargo has been actively driving the introduction of ONE Record for many years to support more efficient, paperless data sharing within the industry.
“Following several pilot projects, we are now ready to connect to customers and partners even faster and more efficiently at scale.
“Furthermore, this seamless data exchange lays the foundation for introducing further digital benefits and AI-powered services.”
The collaboration is one of the first large-scale, multi-stakeholder implementations of the ONE Record standard, which was rolled out in January 2026 to improve the exchange of data amongst the air cargo ecosystem via API connections.
Lufthansa said the key advantage of the new standard is that freight data can be checked and processed within a company’s own systems prior to the actual transport.
“Furthermore, significantly more freight data and file formats can be exchanged than was previously possible,” Lufthansa said.
“This creates greater transparency throughout the transport chain down to the level of individual shipments, with improved opportunities for proactive management at every stage of the process.”
Elias Hatzigeorgiou, senior product manager at WiseTech Global, added: “By replacing fragmented communications with a standardised, single source of truth for shipment data, ONE Record will unlock new levels of transparency, efficiency and collaboration across the global air cargo supply chain.”
