Ciprian Ciucu blames people for the invasion of badgers in the center of the capital: "The effect of poverty that the City Hall does not make"
The Mayor of the Capital, Ciprian Ciucu, came with additional explanations after a large number of rats were surprised in the center of the Capital by several passersby. The councilor asserts that the rodents have come to the surface: "As a result of the cleaning actions in the deprived areas."
Ciucu wrote on Facebook, distributing a post made on the website of the Mayor of the Capital: "The other side of the truth. Not as spectacular, but the truth is that the rats have come to the surface as a result of the cleaning actions in the deprived areas, which some throw away garbage and food.
We have established monitoring of the area and repeated interventions.
The rats are the result of the poverty that the City Hall does not address."

More details about the actions taken are provided on the Mayor's Facebook page:
"The reasons why there are rats in the area of Piața Sf. Vineri, on the land administered by the City Hall of Sector 3.
Since May, those from the Municipal Company for Eco Sanitation (CMEIB), along with ADP Sector 3, have intervened in the area.
They found numerous tunnels dug in the green space, abandoned waste, food residues on the sidewalk, from citizens who feed the pigeons.
These favor the appearance of rodents.
Thus:
✔️On May 29, the Company applied rodenticides and chemical treatments directly in the tunnels;
✔️ADP Sector 3 inspected and dug the tunnels. In this way, they blocked the rats' exit and prevented contact by people or pets with the toxic substances;
✔️On June 3, CMEIB returned and checked the area. The PS3 land was still unsanitary, and the poisoning stations had been vandalized or stolen.
Only 7 remained. Those who feed the pigeons took them;
✔️The Company requested that the Local Police of Sector 3 intervene and fine those who deposit waste on the PS3 land, throw food scraps for birds and animals, and repeatedly destroy the treatment stations.
The entity should have monitored the perimeter;
✔️Later, the Eco Sanitation Company applied two more rodenticide treatments there. And these were stolen;
✔️In the meantime, food scraps, collected household waste, and food for birds/animals are still thrown on the paved area and the green space;
✔️And the land is covered with vegetation that favors nesting: ornamental plants such as yews and holly offer optimal shelter and favor the creation of tunnels;
✔️Currently, 29 poisoning stations are located in the area, and we have asked those from ADP S3 to clean/trim the ornamental plants that favor rodent shelter and to redevelop the perimeter landscaping.
It is necessary to replace the existing soil layer with a thick layer of sand and gravel, correlated with the placement of plants specific to sandy soil, to physically prevent the digging of tunnels;
✔️Those from the Local Police of Sector 3 and Sector 3 Health have been asked to monitor the area and keep it clean.
Let's return," it appears in the post on social networks.
