UBS Scores Hat Trick With Three Teams Managing $2.7B Combined

Ahead of a traditionally busy Labor Day weekend for advisor moves, UBS Wealth Management USA recruited three teams managing around $2.65 billion combined from Morgan Stanley Wealth Management and Merrill Lynch. The largest move by assets is the Mason Cisney Alcon Wealth Management Group from Morgan Stanley in Pueblo, Colorado. The team managed $1.4 billion and generated around $3.5 million in annual revenue, according to a source familiar with the practice. The group is led by Caitlin E. Alcon, Calvin B. Mason and Craig E. Cisney and includes client associates Nancy Wickham and Delaney Delport. They joined UBS’s Mountain West Market, led by Market Executive Mitch Markley, and will report to Market Director Justin French. Alcon had been partners with another advisor, John Kelly Tucker, who retired and whose registration lapsed in May after 43 years in the industry, according to their former website and BrokerCheck records. Alcon, who has 20 years of experience, joined Morgan Stanley in 2022 from RBC Wealth Management, according to BrokerCheck. She had spent five rookie months at UBS before joining RBC in 2006. Mason joined Morgan Stanley in 2013 from Wells Fargo, where he had spent the bulk of his 34-year career. Cisney started his career at Morgan Stanley the same year. Separately, UBS added a trio of Morgan Stanley lifers managing $750 million in Bethesda, Maryland. The team includes advisors Richard E. Horn, Jeffrey M. Deckelbaum and Richard’s son, Gerald. They had been producing around $4 million in annual revenue, according to the same source. Richard Horn started his career at Morgan Stanley’s E.F. Hutton predecessor in 1988 and inherited his father’s practice, according to BrokerCheck and his firm bio. Deckelbaum started his career at Smith Barney in 2007, two years before it was purchased by Morgan Stanley during the financial crisis. Gerald Horn started at Morgan Stanley in 2018. The group joined UBS’s South Atlantic Market led by Jake Shine, who reports to UBS’s Southeast regional manager Julie Fox. Rounding out the hires is John R. Hall, who had been managing $500 million at Merrill Lynch in Bellevue, Washington, according to a Forbes ranking. Hall, who has logged 18 years in the industry, joined Merrill in 2013 from Morgan Stanley, according to BrokerCheck. Hall joined with Aaron Marshall, an advisor with seven years of experience, and client associate Jennifer Teddy. The team joined UBS’s Pacific Northwest Market, managed by Rob Giordano. Hall will work from the wirehouse’s Bellevue office, where Cy Aleman serves as market director and Michelle Fenske is senior market director. The moves underscore a hiring push at UBS, which bolstered its management team with former Morgan Stanley recruiting honcho Ben Firestein and by promoting Lisa Golia to head of the field. UBS one week ago added a $1.4-billion team from asset manager AllianceBernstein in Los Angeles. UBS executives have forecasted an improvement in advisor retention and recruiting in the second half of 2026 after compensation and management shifts prompted a wave of defections over the past 19 months. UBS also earlier this year rolled out a recruiting offer of 550% for advisors producing $7 million or more in revenue.
