Exports: the automotive industry leading in Morocco with 159.2 billion MAD in 2025

The automotive sector maintained its position as the leading exporting sector for the third consecutive year in 2025, with exports reaching 159.2 billion dirhams (MMDH), according to the Office of Change. These exports record a slight decrease compared to 2024 (159.6 MMDH), the Office specifies in its annual report on Morocco's foreign trade. This decline is due to a decrease in the sales of the construction ecosystem (-9.6 MMDH or -13.5%), mitigated by the increase in exports of the wiring ecosystem (+5 MMDH or +9%) and the vehicle and seat interior ecosystem (+1.1 MMDH or +11.5%). According to the same source, phosphates and derivatives rank second among exporting sectors with 99.7 MMDH, an increase of 14.5%. The increase concerns all products: natural and chemical fertilizers (+14.1%), phosphoric acid (+14.8%), and phosphates (+17.3%). For their part, exports from the agriculture and agri-food sector reach 87.5 MMDH, a slight increase (+0.5 MMDH) following the rise in sales of agriculture, forestry, and hunting (+2.1 MMDH), partially mitigated by the decrease in food industry sales (-1.5 MMDH). Exports from the aeronautics sector record an increase of 2.7 MMDH or +9.8%, mainly due to the growth in the assembly ecosystem (+1.9 MMDH or +10.6%). In contrast, exports from the textile and leather sector decrease by 2.1 MMDH or -4.6%, falling from 45.9 MMDH in 2024 to 43.7 MMDH in 2025. Those from the electronics and electricity sector also decline, mainly due to the decrease in exports of electronic components (transistors) by 3 MMDH or -38.8%. Overall, Morocco's exports progress to 470 MMDH in 2025. By product, natural and chemical fertilizers rank first with a share of 15.6%, followed by passenger cars (12.6%) and wires, cables, and other insulating conductors for electricity (11.9%).
