Dowidar, as part of joint-strategy previously, was engaged in cooperation between the pair on procurement, infrastructure, and enterprise services, including around their approaches to open RAN, and their supply of more expansive cross-border services such as fiber routes, IoT roaming, private networks, cloud computing, and cybersecurity. The Financial Times points to “major cost reductions” at Tele2, and historical comments by Niel about Vodafone as “too fat, too slow, too complex”. It quoted James Ratzer, analyst at New Street Research, that Niel “would be looking to achieve the same [cost cutting] at Vodafone” as elsewhere. “This could potentially be a transformational change for Vodafone,” he said in the piece.
