State Department Links Foreign Antifa Groups to Hamas and Iran’s IRGC

- The U.S. State Department designated four European Antifa groups as Foreign Terrorist Organizations and Specially Designated Global Terrorists, including Germany-based Antifa Ost, which the department said has connections to Antifa networks in the United States. According to the State Department, Antifa Ost members conducted attacks in Germany between 2018 and 2023 against people they viewed as “fascists” or part of the political right. - State Department officials told Fox News that Antifa Ost had communicated with Portland, Ore.-based Rose City Antifa and that the groups exchanged tactics and other information. The department also said Antifa Ost members had traveled to the U.S. and that one member participated in violent demonstrations in Portland in 2020. - The State Department also designated Greece-based Armed Proletarian Justice and Revolutionary Class Self-Defense, and Italy-based International Revolutionary Front. Officials said Revolutionary Class Self-Defense has expressed solidarity with Hamas and Hezbollah and claimed responsibility for an explosive attack on the offices of Hellenic Train, while Armed Proletarian Justice claimed responsibility for planting a bomb near Greece’s riot police headquarters. The department said the Italian International Revolutionary Front has claimed responsibility for attacks targeting government and economic institutions and has expressed support for Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
