TJ-SP denies new habeas corpus request from the lieutenant's defense
The Court of Justice of São Paulo (TJ-SP) denied a new habeas corpus request presented by the defense of Lieutenant Colonel Geraldo Leite Rosa Neto, accused of the death of his wife, soldier Gisele Alves Santana of the Military Police. The court confirmed this information to TV Globo.
The officer has been held in preventive custody since March 18th and is being prosecuted for femicide and procedural fraud. The defense argues that Gisele died by suicide, a version contested by the investigations and expert reports.
On October 5th, Geraldo was interrogated by the Justice for more than eight hours. During the testimony, he denied having killed his wife again and claimed to be unjustly imprisoned for a crime he claims not to have committed.

Officer criticized his wife's clothes during interrogation
During the interrogation, the lieutenant colonel criticized his wife's clothes and insulted her parents and witnesses. The Public Ministry requested an investigation of the statements.
Throughout the testimony, Geraldo also presented his version of the relationship and of the police officer's death. He stated that he was trying to separate from his wife and contested elements of the investigation.

Investigation points to suspicion of femicide
Gisele was shot in the head on February 18th, in the apartment where she lived with her husband, in Brás, central São Paulo. She was rescued and taken to the Hospital das Clínicas, but died on the same day.
Initially, the case was registered as suicide. Subsequently, the investigation began to consider the hypothesis of homicide. Forensic examinations identified injuries on the police officer's face and neck, and complementary reports indicated that she could not have fired the shot into her own head.
In addition to femicide, Geraldo is also being prosecuted for procedural fraud. According to the investigation, he allegedly interfered with the crime scene and the course of the case.
After the completion of the interrogations, the Justice will have to analyze the parties' statements and decide whether the lieutenant colonel will be brought to a popular jury.
