âCheetah Girls 4â: Raven-SymonĂ© Confirms Her Return in âNext Genâ Reboot
A new âCheetah Girlsâ movie is in the works.
Franchise star Raven-SymonĂ© announced the news on her official Instagram on Wednesday, teasing that she was already on set for what has been dubbed âThe Cheetah Girls: Next Gen.â Further details were not immediately available.
SymonĂ© starred in the original âCheetah Girlsâ film alongside Adrienne Bailon, Kiely Williams, and Sabrina Bryan. Lynn Whitfield, Juan Chioran, and Lori Alter also starred. In the first film, the four girls form the titular singing and dancing group, signing with a record label and pursue their dreams of pop superstardom.

âThe Cheetah Girlsâ movies are based on the book series by Deborah Gregory. The first film was released as a Disney Channel Original Movie in 2003 to great success, spawning two more films (âThe Cheetah Girls 2â and âThe Cheetah Girls: One Worldâ) and a hit soundtrack, while most of the core four cast members went on to tour and record as The Cheetah Girls until 2008. SymonĂ© appeared in âCheetah Girls 2â but did not return for âOne World,â focusing instead on her solo career.
âThe Cheetah Girlsâ helped launch the trend of Disney Channel original musicals, with later examples including âHigh School Musical,â âCamp Rock,â and âDescendants,â all of which have spawned multiple films to date.
