Manpower Ministry taps AI to build data

The challenge is ... ensuring that it is relevant to industrial developments.Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's Ministry of Manpower is utilising artificial intelligence (AI) technology to strengthen labor market analysis and training planning to support more adaptive, data-driven employment policies that align with the needs of the workforce. In a statement in Jakarta on Monday, Secretary General of the Ministry Cris Kuntadi stated digital technology, particularly AI, has become a major catalyst transforming the workforce landscape, learning methods, and the way the government designs public policy. "The Ministry of Manpower's primary mandate is to ensure our workforce is not left behind. The challenge is not simply providing training, but also ensuring that it is relevant to industrial developments. This is where AI plays a crucial role," Kuntadi said. He further outlined four crucial roles of AI in supporting the employment ecosystem. The roles are quickly mapping workforce needs across various industrial sectors, identifying competency gaps that must be addressed immediately, developing adaptive training plans that meet industry needs, and supporting decision-making based on evidence rather than assumptions. The key to the success of this transformation remains the readiness of human resources (HR). He continued saying that government officials and workers are required to have an adaptive mindset and a spirit of continuous learning. "Let's make AI as a strategic partner to improve public services, strengthen organisational effectiveness, and boost the competitiveness of the Indonesian workforce on the global stage," he said. Kuntadi also expressed optimism that Indonesia can make a major leap toward a superior future for employment. "The significant capital of an abundant workforce, a spirit of mutual cooperation, and a digital learning culture must be seamlessly combined with the power of AI technology," he said.
