Actress and filmmaker Candace Cameron Bure is known as one of the more outspoken Christians in Hollywood —and in a new interview, she says she has no intention of toning down her message. Bure made the comments to Church Leaders during a stop in Dayton, Ohio, on her Candace’s Live Tour, a two-hour event that blends personal stories, audience interaction and conversations about faith. Bure is the chief content officer at Great American Family and a longtime actress who rose to fame on "Full House" before becoming a fixture in Hallmark movies. “Whether someone’s ready for it or not, I’m not going to stop sharing the gospel,” Bure told Church Leaders. The wide-ranging interview covered everything from her passion for sharing the gospel to the divisions she sees in modern culture and the purpose behind her tour. “I love connecting with people. It’s why I’m on the road,” Bure said. “I just, I love relationship. I love community. And it was everything I was hoping it was going to be the first time around. So, when we talk about new dates, I’m like, ‘Absolutely. Let’s make a few more.’” Bure said she is encouraged by a younger generation that seems hungry for the gospel and is increasingly drawn to the basics of faith. “It does make it more exciting when you see a generation that’s hungry for it and wants it, and they seem to have tried a lot of other things out there, and they actually want to go back to the basics,” she told Church Leaders. “What’s been around, what’s been a staple, what’s made a difference, a real difference in people’s lives and not just fast technology, instant gratification kind of stuff, but real deal.” Meanwhile, Bure said she is troubled by the growing divisions in society — echoing comments she made to The Independent in August. “When I look at culture, it’s just so divided. It seems so extreme,” she told Church Leaders. “People have just forgotten about civil dialogue and being okay to disagree with one another, but still respect one another…talk and be friends,” Bure added. “God calls us to unity. God gives us all different gifts. We’re to work together in unity,” Bure added. “And we’re all going to have these slight theological differences, but it doesn’t mean we’re not a part of the same body.” During her previous interview with The Independent, Bure said she values having friends who disagree with her — and encourages others to have a wide range of friends, too. “I really think it's what makes the world go round. It actually makes you believe in what you believe more when you have those conversations with people who don't believe in the same things as you,” she said. “It makes you have to do the research. It makes you have to really understand, like, why do I believe that? Or am I just like parroting something that I heard someone say, or do I actually know facts? Have I researched something? Do I have a conviction over it? These are the things that make us smarter and more intelligent human beings. “I would love for all of us to get back to a place where having these conversations feels like a healthy place, and it doesn't feel like we need to be divisive over it and lose friendships over it.
