J-K govt extends summer vacation in Kashmir, winter zones of Jammu till 26 July
SRINAGAR – The Jammu and Kashmir government on Tuesday extended the summer vacation for all government and recognised private schools in the Kashmir Valley and winter zones of Jammu division till July 26 in view of the prevailing weather conditions.
Education Minister Sakina Itoo said schools will now reopen on July 27.
“Keeping the safety and well-being of students, teachers and their families as our foremost priority, the summer vacation for all government and recognised private schools in the Kashmir division and winter zones of Jammu division is hereby extended up to July 26, 2026,” the minister said in a post on X.
She said the schools will resume classes on Monday, July 27.
The minister urged people to remain cautious and strictly follow advisories issued by the concerned authorities, while wishing everyone safety and good health.
The decision comes as several parts of Jammu and Kashmir have witnessed heavy rainfall and flash floods in recent days, prompting authorities to take precautionary measures.
