Justin Baldoni Breaks Silence on âIt Ends With Usâ Legal Battle With Blake Lively: âSo Many Painful Thingsâ
Justin Baldoni is breaking his silence after the lengthy legal battle with his It Ends With Us co-star, Blake Lively, came to an end earlier this year.
In a nearly five-minute-long video posted on his Instagram Wednesday evening, Justin, sitting next to his wife, Emily Baldoni, explained his silence and how theyâve been as a family over the last few years since the case that captivated Hollywood first erupted in August 2024.
âWe have not spoken publicly for the better part of the last two years, and itâs not because we havenât had anything to say, because Lord knows we have, but it just felt like every time we went to make a video like this, we wanted to speak, something was telling us not to. It just didnât feel like the right time,â Baldoni, who directed and starred in the movie about author Colleen Hooverâs book, began.

However, it seems Wednesday finally felt like the right time, more than two months after Justin and Lively reached a settlement weeks before the case about alleged sexual harassment on the set of It Ends With Us was scheduled for trial. The legal battle ultimately ended with Justin being ordered by the court to pay Livelyâs attorneysâ fees, but no additional money for damages.
In the new video, the couple expressed that âgratitude has saved usâ over the last two years, but Emily added that the gratitude they feel now also âdoesnât negate the injustice and the pain that we have also felt in the last few years.â
âWeâve had to wrestle with so many things and try to understand so many things, like, how could something like this even happen? Let alone disguised as a fight for women. So much to unpack. And the reality is that thereâs been a lot of trauma for us to move through as a family, which also makes it hard to speak,â she continued.
Justin added that thereâs âbeen so many painful things that have been spoken into existence over the last couple years, and that created so much noise, and we didnât want to add to the noise. We just wanted to let the justice system run its course.â Emily also said that âthe truth and the facts have spoken for themselves.â
Later in the Instagram video, the Jane the Virgin alum gave an update for his fans on how theyâre currently doing.
âWe are healing,â he said. âAnd if youâve ever been through something traumatic, you know that healing isnât linear. It looks different every day. And we have had to rethink for ourselves what is real and what matters. And itâs this. Itâs the kids. Itâs our family. Itâs our friends. Itâs our community whoâve been there for us. Itâs our faith. I think weâre closer and more devoted and steadfast in our faith than weâve ever been.â
Justin continued, âAlso, this has been on both of our hearts. There were so many of you who, when we didnât have a voice, were our voice. You had a prayer at the very beginning, which was that you just pray that people would have discernment. And so many of you had discernment and you used your intuition and you trusted that. And you have given your time to fight for us. And thank you does not feel like enough, but weâre here in large part because of so many of you and all of our friends and family. And one thing that weâve learned is that when God presses the reset button and everything else is stripped away, that thatâs when love shows up. And we feel so loved.â
They concluded the video by saying that âthere is so much more to say,â but for now, âwe are going to focus on continuing the healing and hanging out with our kiddos and enjoying life.â
