Trump, shocking announcement: Allows Russia to "immediately" sell 3,000,000 tons of gasoline and talks about Russian refineries / The reaction of Volodymyr Zelensky
President Donald Trump announced that, following a discussion with Russian President Vladimir Putin, they agreed that Russia could immediately sell 3,000,000 tons of gasoline on the American and global markets in order to lower prices for American farmers. Trump's announcement does not stop at the present moment but covers figures and the following months. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky responded immediately.

"We just successfully concluded a discussion with the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, in which we agreed that Russia will immediately supply over 300,000 tons of gasoline for the American and global markets, another 500,000 tons in November and then another 1,000,000 tons," Donald Trump announced in a post on Truth Social.
In total, Trump said that there will be 3,000,000 tons of Russian gasoline to enter the global market, "depending on their refining situation."
A measure for American farmers and transporters
The American President said that the measure was taken so that prices would decrease for American farmers and transporters.
"Between the total control of the Strait of Hormuz and this huge announcement about Russian energy, gas prices for Americans and for the entire world will drop, rapidly, to a record level," Donald Trump also wrote.
Shortly after the phone conversation between Trump and Putin, Kirill Dmitriev, Putin's advisor, welcomed the Russia-American cooperation in the energy sector, Reuters reports.
"The cooperation between Russia and the United States on gasoline and energy will bring benefits to the world," Dmitriev wrote in a post on X.
Zelensky: "Gifts for Putin will not bring peace"
The Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky criticized the agreement between Washington and Moscow, saying that it is "an investment in a war that must end."
"Gifts for Putin will not bring peace nor any benefit to the civilized world. Russia will repay the gasoline sold with even more fear and perfidy. Letting Russia sell oil products is an investment in a war that must end, not to be prolonged. There is a need for de-escalation with Russia on mutual bases," Volodimir Zelensky wrote in a post on X.
Trump's announcement was made a day after Reuters wrote that high-ranking Russian and American officials had discussions regarding the involvement of an American investor in the Nord Stream pipeline project.
Kirill Dmitriev, an advisor close to Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Jared Kushner, Donald Trump's son-in-law who acts as the President's special envoy, participated in the discussions cited by Reuters.
Kushner, who tried to mediate a truce between Russia and Ukraine, believes that commercial relations are essential for restoring peace. Such an agreement would allow American investors to benefit from energy flows to Europe once the war ends.
On September 19, Donald Trump signed a law that amplifies the American sanctions directed against Russia.
The new legislation targets Russia's energy and defense industries, as well as the "ghost fleet" of oil tankers used to circumvent existing sanctions. The objective of the measures was to reduce the revenues that Moscow can use to finance the war in Ukraine.
The legislative act was officially named "Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act of 2026," in memory of the Republican senator from South Carolina Lindsey Graham, who died in July. Graham, known for his tough stance against Russia, was one of the main supporters of the law.
