Santos Laguna Sub-19 Climbs to Sixth Place After Win Over Necaxa

The Santos Laguna Under-19 team improved its standing in the Apertura 2026 tournament following a 3-1 victory against Necaxa. The match, played at Territorio Santos Modelo, serves as a critical step in the team's efforts to qualify for the Liguilla. According to reports from Santos Laguna and El Siglo de Torreón, the team led by coach Jorge Campos (also referred to as Jorge Campos Valadez) secured the win with goals from Justin Chávez in the 15th minute and Rodrigo Escobedo in the 45th. Axel Chagoya added a third goal at the start of the second half in the 46th minute. Necaxa responded with a goal from Leonardo Montoya via a penalty kick. With this result, the Sub-19 squad has reached 26 points, moving them into sixth place in the league standings. El Siglo de Torreón and Santos Laguna both noted that the team now possesses the fourth-best offense of the championship, having scored 26 goals. The team is scheduled to play Atlante Sub-19 in the capital this coming Friday for the penultimate game of the regular season. While the youth team found success, the senior Santos Laguna squad faced a different situation entering their own Jornada 15 matchup against Necaxa. ESPN Deportes reported that the senior team entered that contest in tenth place with 19 points, seeking to reverse a trend of two consecutive losses. At the time of the report, the senior team's goal was to secure a spot in the Liguilla, a possibility ESPN Deportes noted would depend on Santos avoiding further point losses and other teams, such as Monterrey and Querétaro, losing their upcoming matches. --- HOT covers what Americans are searching for most right now.
