Airbus Once Boasted of More Widebody Sales Than Boeing; Now Distant Second

Executives from the European OEM also strutted when sales of the Airbus widebody airplanes exceeded those of Boeing.
No longer. Airbus has once again been relegated to second place in widebody backlog market share. Boeing holds a 62% to 38% market share of the 3,168 in backlog as of July 31, the most recent data available.

Boeing has more widebody family members than Airbus. Minor sub-types, such as the Airbus A350 ULRs and Boeing 787 IGWs, are included in the following table. The Airbus A330-800 MRTT is also included as an announced program, along with the Boeing 767-based KC-46A refueling tanker.
