Now, we have confirmation that the Getaway's arrival will also be pushed back, as first reported by Carscoops. A Subaru representative confirmed the news to Car and Driver. "The start of production for the Getaway is expected to be delayed to allow sufficient time for final adjustments before launch," the company said in a statement. "We are unable to provide any further details at this time." Toyota had said that production of the Highlander would be pushed back by a minimum of eight weeks, and we expect the delay for the Getaway to be similar. Both electric SUVs were originally expected to start reaching customers by the end of 2026, so we now expect to see the Highlander and Getaway appearing at dealerships in early 2027. While the Getaway and Highlander share a platform, they will utilize different powertrains. While the Highlander will offer both single-motor, front-wheel-drive and dual-motor, all-wheel-drive variants, the Getaway will come exclusively with all-wheel-drive. Subaru's dual-motor setup is also more potent, churning out 420 horsepower to the AWD Highlander's 338 ponies. The Getaway will initially come with a 96-kWh battery providing over 300 miles of range, and will later add a more affordable version with a 77-kWh battery that should provide less range, although we're still waiting on an estimate.
