Walter Releases WL25 PCD Indexable Inserts for the W1011 and W1211 Copy Turning Systems
PCD finishing inserts enable better, long and more stable profiling and copy turning
Greer, SC — Walter introduces four WL25 PCD (polycrystalline diamond) indexable inserts for the W1011 and W1211 copy turning systems. The geometry of the finishing inserts features a fully ground circumference in G tolerance, which allows them to be produced within acceptable limits without over-specifying precision to control costs. In addition, lasered chip breaking geometries (FSM3 and FS3) provide the best chip control.
WL25-VCGW..FS-3, “the stable one,” is a universal PCD indexable insert with a 0° rake angle. It provides the highest repeat accuracy. WL25-VCGT..FS-3 is “the soft-cutting one.” The insert exerts the lowest cutting forces due to a 7° to 10° positive rake angle while imparting a very high-quality surface finish and exhibiting a low vibration tendency. The WL25-VCGT..FSM3 insert is “process-reliable” for finishing to medium machining.
Billed as “the smart alternative” to full radius grooving inserts, the WL25-RCGT..FSM3 insert can be applied with small and large feeds. The primary application for the PCD inserts is profiling copy turning aluminum (ISO N material group), and the secondary applications are machining plastics and titaniums (ISO O and S material groups). The finishing and fine finishing inserts are both suitable for machining interrupted cuts. The feed (f) range is 0.001 to 0.015 in/rev (0.03 to 0.38 mm/rev) and the depth of cut (ap) range is 0.004 to 0.118 in (0.1 to 3.0 mm).
The Walter Lock (WL) positive engagement with three female contact surfaces on the tool steel body; and three corresponding male prismatic seats on the underside of the carbide seats prevent insert movement in the tool body. This innovative Walter Lock (WL) system is particularly effective in achieving the finest surface finishes in profiling and copy turning applications.
The extremely wear-resistant PCD cutting tool material maximizes productivity and cost-efficiency. The precision circumferential laser-cut inserts maximize repeat accuracy when indexing.
