Sizewell C appoints Rullion to lead early careers recruitment
Sizewell C has appointed recruitment provider Rullion to lead its early careers programme as the project builds the skilled workforce needed to deliver the nuclear power station.
Under an initial three-year partnership, Rullion will manage all early careers recruitment for the Sizewell C project, attracting, assessing and developing apprentices, graduates, industrial placement students and interns from Suffolk and across the UK.
Sizewell C expects to create around 1,500 apprenticeships during construction, with at least 540 opportunities reserved for people from Suffolk.
This September, 28 apprentices will join Sizewell C across 11 apprenticeship programmes, alongside 60 graduates and industrial placement students.
The new intake will cover sectors including nuclear engineering, civil engineering, project management, cyber security, data analytics, quality, health and safety, business administration and countryside management.
Sizewell C Chief People Officer Sarah Hancock said: “Developing the next generation of talent is critical to both the success of Sizewell C and the future of the UK’s nuclear industry. Through this partnership with Rullion, we are creating exciting opportunities for young people to gain valuable skills, build rewarding careers and play a part in delivering Britain’s clean energy future.
“We are committed to ensuring these opportunities are accessible to local people across Suffolk while attracting the best talent from across the country.”
Rullion will provide a managed service combining specialist early careers recruitment expertise with candidate engagement, assessment delivery and data-led insight.
The partnership will also focus on candidate experience, with young people receiving feedback, career guidance and employability support throughout the recruitment process.
Rullion CEO James Saoulli said: “Nuclear is one of the most exciting growth stories in UK infrastructure, and its success will be built on the people who choose to work in it.
“The early careers opportunities created through Sizewell C are an important first step in building the workforce this industry will need over the next thirty years. I’m proud of what Rullion has built with Sizewell C, and excited about everything still to come.”
Rullion will work with schools, colleges and education providers across the region to raise awareness of careers available through Sizewell C and encourage more young people to pursue careers in the nuclear and infrastructure sectors.
Earlier this year, Sizewell C signed its third and final Memorandum of Understanding with leading further education providers across Suffolk and the East of England to strengthen skills, create opportunities and invest in its future workforce.
The project has also signed the Power of Youth Charter, giving young people a voice in key decisions, and is funding programmes specifically targeted at supporting young people not in education, employment or training.
