Multiple roads closed as fire crews battle blaze at landfill site
EMERGENCY services have closed several roads as fire crews tackle a huge blaze at a landfill site in Aberdeenshire.
Firefighters were called to Stoneyhill Quarry near Longhaven village in Peterhead at around 3.10pm on Saturday following reports of a blaze.
Footage shared online showed thick smoke billowing into the sky from the landfill.
Police have urged members of the public to avoid the area, with road closures in place between Auchiries and Cairn Catto.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Emergency services are in attendance following a fire in Longhaven, Peterhead, at Stoneyhill Quarry, which was reported around 3.10pm on Saturday, 1 August, 2026.
“Road closures are in place between Auchiries and Cairn Catto.
“Members of the public are asked to avoid the area at this time.”
