Soccer Star Jorginho Frello Says Chappell Roanâs Team Was âExtremely Aggressiveâ Toward His Daughter, Slams Singerâs Treatment of Fans
Brazilian soccer player Jorginho Frello is slamming Chappell Roan and her team for the pop starâs alleged mistreatment of his daughter at a SĂŁo Paulo hotel on Saturday.
Frello shared a lengthy post to his Instagram Stories on Saturday about the situation, where he said that he âwent through a very upsetting situation with my family earlier.â
He wrote that his wife and 11-year-old daughter were attending Lollapalooza Brazil, which Roan is headlining this weekend, and his child âmade a sign because she was so happy to see an artist she really admires, or used to admire.â (The soccer star tagged Roan in the post, and also shared a photo of his daughterâs sign, which reads, âH-O-T-T-O-G-O I am watching Chappell Roanâ in blue, pink and purple writing.)

Frello did not detail the name of the child, though his wife, Catherine Harding, shares an 11-year-old daughter with Jude Law. The Hollywood Reporter has reached out to Lawâs reps for comment.
âBy coincidence, theyâre staying at the same hotel as this artist. During breakfast, the artist walked past their table. My daughter, like any child, recognised [sic] her, got excited, and just wanted to make sure it really was her,â he wrote. âAnd the worst part is she didnât even approach her. She simply walked past the singerâs table, looked to confirm it was her, smiled, and went back to sit with her mum. She didnât say anything, didnât ask for anything.â
The soccer star wrote that âwhat happened next was completely disproportionate,â explaining that âa large security guard came over to their table while they were still having breakfast and began speaking in an extremely aggressive manner to both my wife and daughter, saying that she shouldnât allow my daughter to âdisrespectâ or âharassâ other people.â
THR reached out to Roanâs reps for comment, but received no reply by the time of publication.
âHonestly, I donât know at what point simply walking past a table and looking to see if someone is there can be considered harassment,â Frello continued. âHe even said he would file a complaint against them with the hotel, while my 11-year-old daughter was sitting there in tears. My daughter was extremely shaken and cried a lot.â
Frello, a celebrated player for Brazilâs Flamengo, has almost 5 million followers on Instagram, and he detailed his experience living in the public eye in his post. âIâve lived with football, public exposure, and well-known people for many years, and I understand very well what respect and boundaries are. What happened there was not that. It was just a child admiring someone,â he wrote.
Frello continued: âItâs sad to see this kind of treatment coming from those who should understand the importance of fans. At the end of the day, they are the ones who build all of this. I sincerely hope this serves as a moment of reflection. No one should have to go through this, especially not a child.â
He tagged Roanâs Instagram account again at the end of his post, concluding, âWITHOUT YOUR FANS, YOU WOULD BE NOTHING. AND TO THE FANS, SHE DOES NOT DESERVE YOUR AFFECTION.â
The Grammy Award winner is known to speak her mind, specifically about fan behavior. After launching to fame swiftly in 2024, she asked people to âstop touching me,â âstop being weird to my family and friendsâ and âstop assuming things about meâ in an August Instagram post of the same year.
âFor the past 10 years Iâve been going non-stop to build my project and itâs come to the point that I need to draw lines and set boundaries. I want to be an artist for a very very long time,â Roan wrote. âIâve been in too many nonconsensual physical and social interactions and I just need to lay it out and remind you, women donât owe you shit. I chose this career path because because I love music and art and honoring my inner child, I do not accept harassment of any kind because I chose this path, nor do I deserve it.â
A few weeks ago, a video of Roan confronting paparazzi in Paris quickly went viral. As a pool of paparazzi and autograph seekers began taking photos of her, the enragedâPink Pony Clubâ singer took out her phone and began filming them while yelling at them to stand back.
âIâm being disregarded as a human. This is what itâs like. Iâm just trying to go to dinner and Iâve asked these people several times to get away from me!â Roan said.
March 21, 8:50 p.m. Updated to reflect that the 11-year-old is Jude Lawâs biological daughter.
