The Mayor's Office announces that the order to start the works at the Old Court, the oldest feudal court of the city and the oldest medieval monument of Bucharest, has been given. The works cost two million lei and will take three months. The PMB announces that after securing it, the emblem of the Capital will be restored. "As a gift for Bucharest Day, we bring a great piece of news: We have ordered the start of the works at the Old Court, the oldest feudal court of the city and the oldest medieval monument of Bucharest," the PMB announced on Facebook. The City Hall shows that it has been left for years in neglect and has reached an advanced state of deterioration - it has infiltrations, water seeps in, it is full of weeds, and the intervention is essential to stop the structural deterioration and protect the historical walls from the elements. "What we will do more precisely: Now we are not talking about a restoration, but only about securing and conservation: We will redo and repair the coverings, We will ensure the protection of the walls, the bolts, the surfaces exposed to environmental factors, We will build a temporary covering, to allow the continuation of archaeological investigations," says the City Hall. According to the PMB, the works cost two million lei and will take three months. "After securing it, we will restore the emblem of the Capital. An attempt was made to secure this archaeological site in 2018, but the works were stopped two years later and abandoned. No least conservation measures were taken of the historical monument then. Until 2015, a museum operated here. The Old Court is extremely important for the identity of the city! For centuries, it was the residence of great voivodes such as: Vlad the Impaler, Michael the Brave, Matei Basarab, and Constantin Brâncoveanu.
