Men’s Golf Wins Red Bandanna Invitational

VERONA, N.Y. – Harvard men's golf picked up right where it left off at the end of the 2025-26 season, as the Crimson open the 2026 fall season with a first-place team finish at the Red Bandanna Invitational at Turning Stone Resort. The reigning Ivy League men's champion, junior Barry Zhang led the way for the Crimson, as the Winter Garden, Florida native finished atop the leaderboard after shooting one-under par across 54 holes at the Red Bandanna Invitational. Zhang tallied 12 birdies across both days of competition. HOW IT HAPPENED The Crimson headed west to Verona, New York for its season opener at the Red Bandanna Invitational, as Harvard ended the first round of action in third place with a team score of eight over par. Two birdies on the front nine and another on the 13 th hole allowed Zhang to card a 71 (-1) in the first round, as junior William Ma kept the Crimson within striking distance heading into the second round with a 73 (+1) across the first 18 holes on the tournament. In the second round, Harvard ascended atop the team standings, as the Crimson combined for a 287 (-1), the only team score under par from any program at the Red Bandanna Invitational this weekend. Along with Zhang, sophomore Morgan Riley posted a 71 (-1) in the second round after carding a birdie on five of the nine holes on the back nine, as Riley birdied both the 17 th and 18 th holes. Fellow classmate Reese Jensen shot a 72 (E) with three birdies to cement Harvard's positioning in first place heading into the final 18 holes at the Red Bandanna Invitational. Harvard saw out its win at the Red Bandanna Invitational with a convincing third round that saw the Crimson's lineup combine for a 293 (+5). Zhang consistency rose to the top, as he earned the individual victory by shooting a 73 (+1) in the final round to earn the individual win along with the team victory. Jensen broke out in the final round at the Turning Stone Resort, shooting three-under par with a 69, posting five birdies with only a pair of bogeys. Along with the team win at the Red Bandanna Invitational, a trio of Crimson also competed as individuals at the Turning Stone Resort. Senior Jonathan Hartono finished in second after going even on the weekend after a fantastic weekend, as the Jakarta, Indonesia native shot back-to-back 71s (-1) to take second. Sophomore Isaac Ahn and first-year Alex Zhang finished in a tie for eighth with identical tournament scores (+8). A native of Vancouver, British Columbia, Zhang shot a team-leading 68 (-4) in the last round.
