1976 MG MGB Roadster at No Reserve
1976 MG MGB Roadster
This 1976 MGB roadster remained registered with its previous owner in New Mexico from 2007 until it was acquired by the selling dealer in 2026, and it is finished in red over black vinyl upholstery. Powered by a 1.8-liter inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission, the car has been retrofitted with 14″ chrome wheels with wire spoke-style centers as well as a replacement tan fabric soft top. Additional equipment includes a luggage rack, a fender-mounted antenna, a wooden shift knob, a heater, and a locking glove compartment. Work performed in 2024 included the replacement of assorted ignition, fuel delivery, and braking components. This MGB is now offered by the selling dealer at no reserve with a service invoice and a clean New Mexico title.
The car is finished in red, and portions of the body were repainted under previous ownership. Exterior details include a replacement tan fabric soft top, a fender-mounted antenna, a trunk-mounted luggage rack, door-mounted mirrors, side-marker lights, MG-branded mug flaps, and black rubber bumpers. Scratches on the trunk lid and additional photos of the paint condition are viewable in the gallery below.
The chrome-finished 14″ steel wheels feature wire spoke-style covers, and they are mounted with older 185/70 steel-belted radial tires. A spare wheel and tire are located in the trunk. Braking is provided by front discs and rear drums. Work performed in April 2024 included replacing the brake master cylinder, rear wheel cylinders, wheel seals, and wheel bearings.
The cabin houses bucket seats upholstered in black vinyl that extends to the door panels. Interior appointments include a center console with storage under the armrest in addition to a locking glove box, a passenger-side map pocket, an RCA AM/FM stereo, a wooden shift knob, and a heater.
A three-spoke steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation including a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges displaying oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 40k miles.
The 1.8-liter inline-four was factory equipped with a single Stromberg carburetor. The distributor cap, rotor, and points were replaced in 2024, along with the battery, fuel pump, and spark plugs. The selling dealer tells us the carburetor was rebuilt at that time.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.
