The 45 best places to eat in Santiago according to Google Maps: What are the favorites?
The Google platform analyzed reviews, ratings, and directions requests from its users for a year to identify the preferred gastronomic spots in the capital. From traditional restaurants to specialty cafes, Santiago joins nine other cities in the launch of this recognition.
Where to eat well in Santiago? It is one of those questions that usually end in an internet search, asking friends, or a star rating that appears next to a restaurant's name on Google Maps.
Now, the platform decided to turn those searches and recommendations into a gastronomic recognition.
This week, Google Maps presented its selection of the 45 favorite places to eat in Santiago for the first time, a list that brings together restaurants, cafes, and establishments specializing in sweet preparations, chosen from the interactions of the application's own users.
The initiative, named The fans' favorites to eat, is part of an international launch that includes only ten cities: Santiago, Tokyo, London, New York, San Francisco, Chicago, Seattle, Atlanta, Montreal, and Melbourne.
The uniqueness of the recognition is its methodology. Unlike traditional gastronomic guides, where a group of critics or specialists evaluates establishments, Google used a year of review trends, ratings, and directions requests to reach each place.
Thus, the result seeks to reflect which places generate the most interest and receive a favorable rating from those who use Google Maps.
The favorite restaurants in Santiago, according to Google Maps
The selection released by Google Chile allows for the observation of a combination of consolidated gastronomic offerings, neighborhood restaurants, and establishments that have built their reputation based on the experience of their visitors.
Among the five featured restaurants are two exponents of Italian cuisine, a contemporary gastronomy offering, and one of the historic names of Chilean cuisine.
1. Golfo di Napoli Trattoria e Pizzeria
Located at Dublé Almeyda 2435, Ñuñoa, it is one of the Italian proposals included in the selection.
2. PizzerĂa TiramisĂş
Located at Isidora Goyenechea 3141, Las Condes, it is a classic of Italian gastronomy in the El Golf sector.
3. Mestizo
With its headquarters at Avenida Bicentenario 4050, Vitacura, it is the restaurant located next to Parque Bicentenario, known for its contemporary gastronomic offering as well as its architecture.
4. El Hoyo
Located at Condell 818, Providencia, it is one of the representatives of traditional Chilean cuisine. It reopened in Barrio Italia in 2024.
5. PizzerĂa Alleria
At Avenida Italia 1350, Providencia, it is another representative of Italian cuisine among the selected establishments.
The presence of El Hoyo is especially significant. The traditional Chilean restaurant, which was reopened in Barrio Italia in 2024, shares space with international cuisine offerings.
José Vallejos, one of its partners, attributed the recognition to the sustained work surrounding food, atmosphere, and service, and noted that it also represents an award for the effort the team dedicates daily to the attention of its customers.
The preferred cafes of users
Coffee also occupies an important space in the list, with five featured establishments that show the diversity of offerings available in Santiago.
From themed places to specialty cafes, the selection includes businesses from Lastarria, Providencia, Vitacura, and Santiago Centro.
| Cafe | Address |
|---|---|
| Wonderland Café | Rosal 361, Santiago |
| Mestiere Vitacura | Av. Vitacura 9013, Vitacura |
| Pinsa | Candelaria Goyenechea 3868, local 4, Vitacura |
| CafeterĂa Popular | MaipĂş 363, Santiago |
| Café Calderón | Diego de Velásquez 2103, Providencia |
Among the recognized places is Wonderland Café, located in the Lastarria neighborhood and known for its ambiance inspired by Alice in Wonderland, where the decoration is an important part of the visitor's experience.
Another outstanding case is Café Calderón, a specialty cafe in Providencia that began its operations as a food truck and later consolidated its presence in an established location.
"It is a great pride to be part of this selection. Knowing that this recognition comes directly from the recommendations of those who visit us every day is the best boost for our team," comments MarĂa CalderĂłn, co-founder of the establishment.
The 5 places to enjoy something sweet
The third category of the recognition corresponds to the so-called sweet cravings, which groups pastry shops and establishments specializing in desserts and other preparations.
In this selection, there are five places distributed among La Florida, Las Condes, and Providencia.
| Place | Address |
|---|---|
| PastelerĂa TĂa Lucy | Enrique Olivares 490, La Florida |
| Açai House | Avenida Plaza 651, Las Condes |
| El Taller | Av. Providencia 1467, Providencia |
| PastelerĂa Patty Cariño | Colombia 8775, La Florida |
| Dulces Rufiko | Av. Providencia 2309, Providencia |
The presence of businesses from different communes also allows for a broader view beyond the gastronomic circuits that usually concentrate the recommendations of restaurants in Santiago.
A recognition built with user opinions
According to Google Chile, the objective is to use the information accumulated by Maps to highlight gastronomic establishments that have managed to generate interest and positive ratings among their visitors.
"Every day we see how millions of people from all over the world trust the recommendations left by users on Google Maps. This initiative not only celebrates people's preferences but also evidences the pulse of a city and directly helps entrepreneurs boost visits to their businesses," stated Alejandra Bonati, Communications Manager for Google Chile and Peru.
However, there is an important distinction: the list does not constitute a gastronomic evaluation made by specialists nor is it based exclusively on the average score that appears in the application.
The methodology considers various interaction signals over a year, including reviews, ratings, and route requests.
Therefore, it is a recognition of the preferences and behaviors of Maps users, rather than a definitive classification of the culinary quality of each establishment.
