Saint James is best known for her television work, specifically her roles in "Kate & Allie" and "McMillan & Wife." On the latter series, she starred alongside Rock Hudson for five seasons and earned three Emmy nominations for the role. Earlier in her career, she won an Emmy for her work on "The Name of the Game," a series for which she received three nominations. Born Susan Jane Miller in Los Angeles in 1946 and raised in Rockford, Illinois, she pursued a dream of stardom from a young age. After briefly attending Connecticut College and spending time in France to become fluent in French, she moved to New York to model. At age 20, she changed her name to Saint James and relocated to Hollywood, signing a weekly contract with Universal. Her personal life was also a subject of public interest. She was married to scriptwriter Richard Neubert from 1967 to 1968, and later to makeup artist Tom Lucas from 1971 until 1977. They highlighted her strength during a period of profound grief in 2004, when her youngest son, Teddy, died in a plane crash on November 28. According to the family, she delivered his eulogy as a personal note to her remaining children and husband, and spoke with Tim Russert shortly after the accident to thank those who had offered support. Saint James is survived by her husband, Dick Ebersol; her four children, Willie, Charlie, Harmony, and Sunshine Ebersol/Lucas; seven grandchildren; her sister, Mary Mercedes Dewey; and her service dog, Lola. --- HOT covers what Americans are searching for most right now.
