Glasgow's Sauchiehall Street locked down as four people in hospital

A MAJOR city centre street in Glasgow has been locked down after three men and a woman were taken to hospital following an early morning incident. A stretch of Sauchiehall Street has been closed by the emergency services after police were called to the area at around 1.35am on Sunday following a report of disturbance. Police confirmed that three men and one woman were taken to The Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment. A spokesperson for the force said that enquiries are at an early stage to establish the circumstances of the incident and has encouraged anyone with any information to come forward. Drivers have been advised to use alternative routes while the street is closed and have been warned that delays are to be expected. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1.35am on Sunday, 2 August, 2026, we were called to a report of a disturbance on Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow. “Three men and one woman were taken to The Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment. “Enquiries are at an early stage to establish the circumstances and anyone with information should contact Police Scotland through 101, quoting incident number 0339 of 2 August.” READ MORE: Scottish Labour leadership race 'reeks of misogyny', only female candidate says The Glasgow City Council spokesperson said: “Sauchiehall Street between Holland Street and Pitt Street and Holland Street between Bath Street and Sauchiehall Street are currently closed due to a police incident. “Road users are advised to expect delays and consider alternative routes.”
