Another Australian found safe after Nepal-Tibet flood disaster Another Australian who had been unaccounted-for following the devastating floods in Nepal and Tibet has been found safe. The ABC understands that the person was not in the disaster zone. The person is the seventh Australian to be found since the floods, with 35 others still unaccounted-for. Of those, 34 were on the Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage, while one was not part of the tour. For many Australian families, a relatively small area of mountainous terrain near the Nepal-Tibet border has become critical in the search for survivors, or at least answers. Most Australians still unaccounted-for went missing near the Gyirong border crossing, north of Nepal's capital Kathmandu, or in nearby areas inaccessible following the disaster. At least 1,399 people have been killed and more than 5,400 are still missing in Nepal and Tibet. Chinese state media reported on Tuesday that none of the bodies recovered in Tibet were foreign nationals. A total of 261 foreign nationals from 23 countries were missing, Chinese officials said, as they worked to identify the victims. At least 43 people were killed in Tibet, with another 519 people still missing. Loading
